NEW Freebie is on the web site

Here we are at the Quilt, Craft & Sewing Festival in Sacramento having our usual busy good time.  The ladies were happy to see the Easter Egg Freebie design is ready to stitch.  Get hopping and please visit our web site and print out your pattern and get stitching your Easter towel. Happy Spring and Happy Easter!

Rain, Sleet, Snow & Wind – Again?

March decided to make one more big roar as a lion today as we headed home from southern California.  We hit all of the above as we slowly travelled over the Tehachapi pass into Bakersfield.  A couple of scary accidents – one involving the sheriff's car!  We hope the lamb in March will appear later this week. We are home safely and ready to head to bed and not do ANY work at 8 PM…..just read our books.  Tomorrow Tina will head out to her ranch and see Morgan, her kitty.  Morgan is always very glad to see “Mom” return!  Off again on Wednesday to Sacramento to set up shop for the show Thursday through Saturday . More tomorrow.  Good night from the lake.

Presidential Fly Over

Yesterday we did not get to see Barack Obama BUT we did hear Marine 1 helicopter fly over our show building.  Fun just to think we were “kind of close”.  The Pomona show continues to be fun and very busy.  We are relaxing this evening in “Lucy”, our motor home at the Fairplex KOA.  Tomorrow is the end of the Pomona show and we head north and home for a day.  The Sacramento Quilt, craft and Sewing Festival begins next Thursday.  Hope to see all of you fellow northern California buddies there!

The President is in Town!

Very exciting news.  President, Barack Obama, is going to be here in Pomona while we are at the Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival .  We wish we could get tickets and hear and see him in person.  Sadly, we will be just a couple of miles away having our own fun at the show!  Guess we will have to settle on seeing him on the Jay Leno show like most everyone else not lucky enough to get tickets. The booth is set up and looks very nice this time even if I do say so myself!  Usually we have a 30’ space and love every inch of it.  Due to a building change, Bird Brain Designs were the good gals and agreed to shrink down to a squished 20’.  Our Rusty Barn friends were happy and that is a good thing.  Come and visit if you are not one of those lucky ducks seeing the President. Enjoy the lovely Spring day.

Photos from the Arizona Quilter’s Guild Show

It has been a couple of days since the great show at the Mesa Convention Center.  A really nice, new venue for the guild’s show.  Carol Miller from Mesa, a buddy from several years ago, took photos while we were stacked into our show space.  Take a look at her blog www.Ticklepie.typepad.com and see the show from your home.  Thank you so much, Carol!  We look forward to returning next year – mark you calendars – March 11, 12, 13, 2010.  We head off to Pomona today to set up our little Mercantile Shop for the Rusty Barn show beginning Thursday through Saturday.  Come and visit us if you can….we’ll enjoy seeing you and you can have some fun too!

Antiquing in Arizona

We are up to our old tricks when we have a day to two to fool around!  Yesterday we found a wonderful antiques mall in Mesa called  Treasures from the Past on McKellips and Center Streets.  I am so excited as I finally found my harvest table for the dining room – but no chairs yet.  We looked like we were having a parking lot sale as we had to unload the back of our motor home’s garage to fit the table in.  It was just the right size and I can hardly wait to see it in the house.  Now the old cherry gate-leg table and chairs need to find a new home.  I’ll post some pictures of the mall and our loading adventures later when I can get the pictures out of the camera! We are still in Phoenix at a fancy RV park – Wal-Mart – and heading to the Brass Armadillo antiques mall.  Maybe they will have the chairs that will complement the table.  I’m on a roll on this trip!

First Time in Mesa, Arizona

Beautiful day yesterday in Mesa, Arizona.  We unloaded all our goodies in our show space and will set up today.  A preview night starts at 5 through 9 PM.  We will need to hustle to get our little “Mercantile Shop” ready for lots of ladies.  Come to the Mesa Convention Center if you are nearby. Later in the evening…..We are set up and had a lovely evening meeting lots of great people.  I hope you will be able to come and see the quilts, really wonderful and so many of them.  Remember to stop by and say hello.

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggidy Jig

We are home and busy in the studio until taking off again next Monday for sunny and warm, Mesa, Arizona…..nice! It was a great trip from Washington and the Sew Expo Show through Oregon and home again.  We had a lovely time –AGAIN – in Kalama, Washington antiquing.  After shopping, we had an encore lunch at the Antique Deli and  Pastry Shop.  Our stop on the way up to Washington rated another welcome visit.  Really delicious home made soups, chicken salad with almonds on home baked break…..yummy!  For dessert I had an almond bar – the “chef’s” lemon bar receipe with almond extract.  We will be back as soon as possible to visit the cheerful cooking gang. Back to making kits and cutting up fabric for our next three shows.  We have also been asked to create the cover pillow for the Better Homes and Gardens “Holiday Crafts” magazine.  It is almost finished and then it will zip off to Iowa and the editor and photography.  I’m ...
