New Signs for the Studio

The signs for our windows have arrived and look great! Folks walking or driving by now know we are really “in business”.  Ms. BIG Birdie looks inviting and captures the attention and interest of customers.  We look forward to seeing some of you folks in “blogland” in the new studio to say ‘Hey!’ Visit our new Facebook page and give us a “like” and become friends with us on facebook. http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Bird-Brain-Designs/362826367108827

Main Street Open House Was A Success

Friday night we had a super Opening Day for Bird Brain Designs.  Lots of friends who knew we were moving downtown stopped by to welcome us to town.  Many other folks who didn’t know us came in to check out the studio.  A great turn out and good time had by all! Here I am on the radio.  Leah caught me by surprise and we did an quick and impromptu chat about the new store on the block – Bird Brain Designs. The Street Fair Party was happy all up and down the block with Lake County business showing off.  The first of many annual Street Fairs we hope will happen. One of my favorite businesses from the other side of the lake.  This dainty fellow had a super time driving his chubby mobile horse up and down the street! Plan to visit Bird Brain Designs Studio for our official Grand Opening Day – June 16th.

New Pooch Picket Fence

The doggies are safe now behind their very own very elegant picket fence.  No greeting customers and running out the open front door to see anyone else on the sidewalk! Finishing touch up painting needs to be completed today and then everyone is safe!  We appreciate Steve who “saw” our vision of fence and didn’t even visit our inspiration just down the street.

“Wall of Wool” at New Shoppe

Our shelves are finally finished and ready to fill.  Yesterday I had fun sorting through our bolts of wool and moved them from the floor to the shelves….so delicious! Still plenty more empty shelves to fill with fabric and other goodies to tempt our visitors.  While working yesterday we had lots of gals stop by and wonder what we are up to.  We will be ready for a small opening party June 15 but will be “in attendance” at the Shoppe fixing it up most days until then.  Fun times heading our way.

Moving Continues

Who actually realized just how much stuff we had around here!  I spent most of the weekend packing and carting wool and other things to the New Shoppe. A back seat full of bolts if wool – the colors look wonderful all squished together! I unceremoniously dumped the bolts in front of our nice new wall of shelves.  Now they can be put on the shelves and look just delicious!

NEW Freebie for May is Ready to Print

Print out and embroider your 5th installment in our series of 12 Fruits and Veggies to embroider on a pretty and useful tea towel from Dunroven House. Fat green Bell Peppers are stitched on our Red Striped tea towel with # 3346 Hunter Green DMC #8 Perle Cotton.  Because it is so QUICK & EASY I copied the illustration onto Sticky Fabri-Solvy (as usual!) and was ready to embroider in just a couple of minutes.  Give it a try this month with your Free design.   When my embroidery is finished it is a treat to dissolve the printed (and stitched over) Sticky Fabri-Solvy with  warm running water in the kitchen sink.  It really does work!  Just let the water run on your towel and see the film float away in front of your eyes.  Don’t be stingy – use plenty of water and rinse after. Happy May to you.  Make a quick Mother’s Day gift with our Free Designs.
