Chickens Rule the Roost

Tina’s Hens are happy, go-lucky little feathered friends. They have the coolest Chicken Cabin and 60 acres to explore.  They actually only go about 50 yards away from the “nest” and scratch and peck all around their home and up the hill.  When Tina comes home from Bird Brain Designs each evening they run from where ever they are hanging out to greet her.  So cute! Enjoy the hominess (is that a word?) of chickens in your kitchen with our The Hen Delivers Towels . Five designs to create some “Kitchen Chickens” for your home. Our friend, Dianne, shared her set of 4 of the 5 towels proudly hanging in her kitchen. Thanks so much, Dianne, they look perfect on your special towel rack!! Have a great day out there everyone!

Embroider a Garden for Your Home

More pretty Garden Designs you can stitch up while waiting to get out in the dirt and start digging! Our My Heart is in My Garden can be stitched in Counted Cross Stitch and in BlueWork Embroidery too. Both the Counted Cross Stitch and Embroidery Wall Hanging are composed of a collection of borders filled with flowers, bird houses, bees and bugs plus other garden goodies.  Use some of the border designs to add to pillowcases, tea towels or your Garden Shirt! The BlueWork version of My Heart is in My Garden is quicker to stitch than Counted Cross Stitch using only one color of #8 Perle Cotton.  The borders will make many great stitching designs for more items in your home and sewing room.  Start planning something! Think Spring in your Garden

Spring Flowers in Lake County

Spring has Sprung the Grass is Riz. My Garden is Where the Flowers is! Enjoy a RedWork Garden in your home whether the flowers of spring are actually coming up in your garden. I enjoyed snapping a number of pictures in our county yesterday as I drove home.  Spring in the country is beautiful! Fabulous and sweet scented Wisteria growing crazy along a fence – probably 50’ wide by 30’ tall up into a tree in the back. Mustard between the rows of vines just popping with tiny leaves.  The vintage barn has one of our Lake County Quilt Trails painted Quilt Blocks.  A wonderful tour around the county to see all the Blocks…..Bird Brain Designs store has one too! Mustard is plowed into the soil after they are finished blooming Pear trees are in bloom treating us to acres of beautiful orchards filled with delicate blossoms and tiny green leaves. A promise of delicious pears in August! Come to the Kelseyville Pear Festival September 28 for FUN and visit our Stor

ATTENTION Dog Lovers

Our Dog Quilt is finally coming together!! There is just one more block to draw and ALL will be finished and into a hoop to embroider. Poppy has been keeping me company for several days just watching me from her prone position in her crib in the Design Studio.  Such a patient pooch! Poppy is a poster child for our RedWork Pattern, A Dog’s Perfect World.   She may have had a good life a long time ago but then was found at an Estate Sale after her former family passed away.  She was left in the house alone with someone bringing her food.  The Russell Rescue of Riverside County found her at the Sale and  I got her next!  She has separation issues (as you can imagine) but is more a stuffed animal than a “real” Jack Russell.  She like coming to the store and plays with our other “work” dogs, Abigail, Campbell and Edie. A sneak peek at the 6 Dog Quilt Blocks stitched. Fabric is on order and due next week.  We will put the 8 blocks together and zip it up to Washington to Lori

A Beautiful Spring Sunrise

This morning the sun came up in a blaze of color. Celebrate the new Spring season with a Four Seasons Embroidered Wall Hanging. Four Seasons set in the Garden is a perfect design to put in a special spot in your home as each of the special seasons rolls around.   Each block shows off the virtues of that Season from the garden’s point of view.  Have some fun stitching and enjoy Spring!
